I just finished an artist portfolio for Marcy Kolber.
Marcy has recently graduated college and needs a professional portfolio. Photographing for other artists is so rewarding. I get to assist someone else in getting their artwork on there and seen.
Sunday, I worked the Southern Bridal Show.
I met hundreds of brides and made some excellent connections. I signed up two weddings and made a bunch of appointments.
Meet Bob. Bob is an Executive Director and wanted his headshot to incorporate the company he works for.
We as photographers forget that a headshot doesn’t have to be taken in our studio. All we have to do is remember how to light the subject properly and we can go on location.
This weekend was a first for Barry C Altmark Photography. I videotaped two events and videotaped and photographed yesterday’s Birmingham Jewish Federation‘s ceremony at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute at the same time.
All I can say is that technology is cool sometimes. With the video camera on the tripod and the still camera on a ledge in front I managed to photograph and video at the same time.
I’m hoping not to try this again 
Friday night, I photographed the Black Jacket Symphony performing Fleetwood Mac‘s Rumours at the Sloss Furnace in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Black Jacket Symphony plays an entire classic rock album cover to cover, note for note and lyric for lyric.
They perform in Alabama and Atlanta, Georgia. Go to their website for upcoming shows.
This afternoon I worked the AWEP (Alabama Wedding and Event Professionals) booth at the Soho Bridal Show here in Birmingham.
I got to visit with a bunch of cool brides and a lot of my favorite vendors. Geoff and Lamar with JAMM Entertainment were there, Rachael Grammer, Wedding Planner, Mary and Natalie of Kathy G & Co, Andy with Kathy G Creations, Andy Tolar, Design Productions, Danny with Feel the Beat Entertainment, Carlos and Rebecca of Total Entertainment, Gretchen and Buddy with Gretchen B Photography, Marsha Perry of Marsha Perry Photography, Lonnie and Greg with Mr. Burch Formal Wear, J. Ross of Norton’s Events, Bill and Alicia Wilson with Sun Dophin Productions, Angela and John of Mainstreet Productions and Stephanie and Katie of Perfect Wedding Guide.
I’m sure I forgot some folks, but it was a busy day.
I had the pleasure of photographing the Birmingham stop of Martini Wines Traveling Cab Lab.
Food editors, critics and chefs were invited to enjoy a meal from Chef Chris Dupont and Sous Chef Chris Evans at Cafe Dupont where they expertly paired the wines with Chef Dupont’s exquisite food. The participants also were taught how to create and blend their own Cabernet.
